A good friend of mine, is running a contest! It's mostly a FB thing, but I think that folks here on DA would like it too! For a couple clicks of a mouse you can win anything from photography to altar wares to jewelry! Check it out:
For more info check out Mattie's Place on FB, and don't forget to see all that's available in store at Mattie's Place on Zazzle!
Start by clicking on the Like button for the page ^ up there if you haven't already. Share us with your friends, too, please.
However, to actually enter the contest you need to fire off an email to matrinka@hotmail.com with "2012 Contest Entry" in the subject line. In the body of the email tell me who you are.

Designing Dolls
Yesterday, I worked on some doll designs for my shop. I have a pattern for a 15" that has been altered to my own preferences, I have a pattern for a rattle/teething doll (the prototype will be for my son), and a pattern for a Wishy-Bum Muse doll. I am hoping to improve my embroidery skills with the last one ... at least until I can raise the money for an embroidery sewing machine.
Today, I have more ideas that need working out, more sketches that need to be made, more patterns designed, more supply lists made, and more packing to be done. I think I will also be making potato leek soup today. I have been craving a rich, creamy soup for a
To Upgrade or Not
I've been having this debate with myself for about a year now. I go through spurts where I am really active with my art and photography and then I kind of switch to more of a journalling/blog kind of deal. Which I realize I could easily crosspost here.
What keeps me from shelling out $5/ month for the premium membership is that I'm not sure if I would really use all of the features regularly. I'm on a borrowed computer at the moment since mine bit the dust a while ago. Also, my camera is in need of not cheap repairs.
While I do like the ease of using my phone's camera, iphonography doesn't make me feel like an artist the way that settin
Tired. Sleep Now.
So far, I've uploaded two brush packs, and I have four more that will get made in the next little while. Then I'm gonna get back to working with tools that I can hold in my hands and get inky/painty with.
I also owe my blog followers a couple of fairly in depth posts by the end of the year/beginning of January.
My life is slowly returning to normal now that the holidays have passed. With a toddler, New Years revelry is a bit of distant memory. I'm alright with that, though. I'm not sure I'll make a resolution beyond the handful of lists and reminders that I've already made.
Instead, I think that this year, I will count blessings. I th
Art Goals for 2013
Watching various communities and the offerings of other deviants has been very inspiring to me the last little while. I have ideas for where I want to take my own art, and projects that I want to complete.
For 2013, I want to complete the following:
- textured paper sketches of at least 4 original characters
- 2 completed works based on old highschool ideas
- complete Wheel of the Year colouring book for my little one
- learn to use an air brush, and complete two projects in that medium
What are your artistic goals for the new year?

Thanks for the signal boost! The goods are all over on my FB page, so check it out. $35 credit towards any of the physical goods or services I offer just for dropping me an email is pretty sweet, I think.
I'll be listing a bunch of new items in the next week or so, too, so really, check us out and enter!
